ARPM speaker profile: Sophie McCarthy

No matter how hard you try, sometimes you are going to encounter challenges in your life - be they personal or professional.

What counts the most is how you overcome these obstacles. Do you let them stand in your way or do you find a path around them?

One of the tests that most people face at some point during their professional career is change.

Whether they receive a promotion or move cities, dealing with new surroundings and adapting to a new environment is always going to be challenging.

This is why it is important to be prepared to grow and adapt - nothing stays the same forever and the most successful property managers understand that moving with the times is essential.

Fortunately, this is an area that Sophie McCarthy specialises in. She is coming to the Australasian Residential Property Management Conference (ARPM) in August to speak about professional development and mentoring.

Moving forward

Sophie is the general manager of McCarthy Mentoring, a New South Wales company that specialises in matching mentees with mentors.

These relationships are designed to help individuals move forward with their professional careers, through training, one on one support and personal development strategies.

"Our programs are developed with our clients for senior executives and their teams, high potential employees, emerging leaders and individuals who wish to privately engage a mentor," read the company profile.

Sophie works with her mother Wendy McCarthy, who is the principal and founded the business in 1998.

Why ARPM 2012?

Sometimes everybody needs a mentor, regardless of their professional or personal circumstances.

Speaking one on one with a trained expert can help you to develop your own career and improve your services.

This is particularly relevant in the property management industry, where many people are their own boss - meaning that they do not always have that superior person to speak to for support and guidance.

At ARPM 2012, Sophie will use a case study to show you how the mentor-mentee relationship works, as well as speak about personal development and investing in your talent and yourself.

If you are interested in listening to Sophie and other speakers, come along to ARPM 2012 at the Hilton Hotel in Sydney. The property management conference is being held on August 5 and 6 - there will also be a Trade Show and exclusive networking opportunities. Register and learn more about ARPM 2012.
