Training, support and flexibility 'the keys to a happy workplace'
Training, support from management, flexible working arrangements and recognition of a job well done have all been identified as things that would make Australian workers happier.
A new Upskilled survey reported that other morale-boosters were identified as the introduction of a reward system, as well as massages, bars or gyms in the workplace.
The survey results, published by news.com.au, suggest that when it comes to leadership training, managers have plenty to learn.
Mark Sexty, director of Upskilled, said: "Employers may not control every single aspect of the working environment, but they can make sure they are offering adequate training and providing acknowledgement for achievements within the workplace in order to keep staff happy and motivated."
Open communication, according to one professional, is another essential tool that leadership development should focus on.
Case Centre chief executive officer Mary Casey asserted earlier this month that it is important to deal with employees on an individual basis and for leaders to take different personalities into account.
By taking a personalised approach, rather than adopting a one-size-fits-all strategy, managers can provide constructive feedback and facilitate the exchange of ideas.
