WA cities listed as 'most liveable'
A number of cities in Western Australia are in the running to receive awards for promoting best practice approaches to modern living.
The WA municipalities of Joondalup, Geraldton and Mandurah have all been shortlisted for the LivCom awards for livable communities.
This series of awards seek to promote local initiatives that improve the quality of life of individuals residing in the communities and has been endorsed by the United Nations.
The three communities have contended with hundreds of cities from 50 countries for a place in the shortlist, with the final announcements to be made at an awards ceremony in Seoul to be held from October 27 to 31.
In Australia, the only other city to receive a nomination was Victoria's Port Phillip bay.
The awards may provide these communities with a much-needed boost in real estate popularity and turnover rates.
Reports by Landgate WA - the government department responsible for information on property statistics - have also shown declining median housing prices across the state.
The combination of lowered housing prices, increasing buyer willingness to sell and a reputation for being 'liveable' may make properties in Western Australia more attractive to buyers - a situation that may be of interest to real estate programs.
