New rail link to open up Sydney's suburbs

A new train line could soon be underway that connects community hubs between Epping and Rouse Hill.

The rail extension was the subject of a briefing issued by the NSW government to construction industry representatives from national and international companies on August 2.

Over 23 kilometres of track will need to be laid for the new line, which will feature six modern stations and interchange services as part of the infrastructure upgrade.

If it is successful, this major transport link will become Sydney's longest underground rail project, including a total of 15 kilometres of tunnels.

Over 300 industry representatives attended the briefing on the project, which has reportedly generated a lot of public support. So far the government has received 15 tenders submitted by interested parties.

Official estimates put the number of residents who could gain access to new transport options as high as 300,000.

These commuters would likely hail from the Hills district of north-west Sydney - an area that has long been interested in a dedicated rail link as part of its transport options.

Benefits of this project may also include an increase in housing prices and rental rates in the surrounding suburbs, with transport being an important factor for relocating residents.

This information could provide attendees of local property management seminars with some serious food for thought.
